About AIX Rosé

Drawn from one of Provence's most celebrated terroirs, AIX is created to be the purest possible expression of what a rosé wine can be. High up in the hills just north of Aix-en-Provence, away from the heat of the coast, you'll find a set of ancient stone gates. Beyond them lies the Maison Saint Aix estate. Here, we dedicate ourselves to capturing the essence of this iconic terroir in a single premium rosé. Made for those who know how to appreciate wine, and for those who know how to appreciate life, AIX Rosé embodies the elegance, sophistication, and effortless style that define Provence's most celebrated wine.

Maison Saint Aix Estate & Terroir

Maison Saint Aix is one of the largest domaines in the AOP Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence appellation. At 420 metres above sea level, it's also one of the highest. And thanks to that elevation, we enjoy cooler nights and a greater Mistral effect, drying the vines on dewy mornings—making the fruit even better. The estate's mineral-rich soils, combined with 300 days of sun a year and the cooling Mistral winds, offer the ideal growing conditions for Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault grapes, the classic blend used to make AIX Rosé. This unique combination of elevation, soil composition, and climatic influences creates a terroir that produces rosé of exceptional quality, finesse, and aromatic complexity.

Provence & Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence

Provence, located in southeastern France along the Mediterranean coast, stands as the world's most celebrated rosé-producing region, with a winemaking heritage dating back over 2,600 years to ancient Greek settlers. The Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence appellation, situated in the western part of Provence surrounding the historic city of Aix-en-Provence, encompasses approximately 4,000 hectares of vineyards across diverse landscapes ranging from coastal plains to elevated hillsides. The region's varied topography creates distinct microclimates and terroirs, with higher-elevation sites like Maison Saint Aix benefiting from cooler temperatures and greater diurnal variation. The appellation's limestone-rich soils, combined with the Mediterranean climate and Mistral winds, create ideal conditions for producing elegant, structured rosés with remarkable freshness and aromatic purity.

Provence Climate & The Mistral Effect

Provence enjoys a classic Mediterranean climate characterised by hot, dry summers, mild winters, and abundant sunshine—averaging 300 days of sun annually. This generous solar exposure promotes full ripening and flavour development, whilst the region's signature Mistral wind plays a crucial role in maintaining vine health and fruit quality. The Mistral, a strong, cold northwesterly wind that sweeps down the Rhône Valley, provides natural disease protection by drying the vines after morning dew and reducing humidity during the growing season. At Maison Saint Aix's elevated position, the Mistral effect is particularly pronounced, creating optimal conditions for producing grapes with concentrated flavours, balanced acidity, and aromatic intensity. The estate's 420-metre elevation also ensures cooler night temperatures, allowing grapes to retain natural acidity whilst achieving full phenolic ripeness during warm days—a crucial factor in crafting rosé with both depth and freshness.

Classic Provence Blend: Grenache, Syrah & Cinsault

AIX Rosé is crafted from the classic Provence blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault—varieties that have proven ideally suited to the region's terroir over centuries of cultivation. Grenache contributes generous red fruit flavours, roundness, and body, forming the backbone of the blend with its characteristic strawberry and raspberry notes. Syrah adds structure, aromatic complexity, and subtle spice, contributing depth and a savoury dimension that elevates the wine beyond simple fruit expression. Cinsault provides delicate floral aromatics, freshness, and elegance, with its light, perfumed character adding finesse and drinkability. The precise proportions of each variety are carefully calibrated to create a rosé that balances power with elegance, fruit expression with minerality, and immediate appeal with the complexity that rewards contemplation.

AIX Rosé Tasting Profile

AIX is a well-balanced premium Provence rosé with a typical hypnotising salmon pink colour that captures the eye and sets expectations for the elegance within. The nose is fresh and fragrant, delicate yet youthful with sophisticated notes of fresh red fruits, peach, and subtle flower hints that invite you to explore further. It offers roundness on the palate and a beautiful aromatic depth, before finding freshness and some minerality in its long and precise finish. Made with love, passion, and pride, AIX Rosé is elegant, generous, and delicious—with the power to make any moment of the day feel effortless. The wine's balance between fruit expression and structural elements creates a rosé that performs beautifully as an aperitif, pairs elegantly with Mediterranean cuisine, and enhances any occasion with its refined character.

Provence Rosé Winemaking

AIX Rosé is crafted using traditional Provence winemaking techniques that prioritise purity, freshness, and aromatic expression. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, typically in the cool early morning hours to preserve their natural acidity and aromatic compounds. Gentle pressing extracts only the finest juice with minimal skin contact, creating the delicate salmon pink colour that defines premium Provence rosé. Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel preserves the wine's fresh fruit character and floral aromatics, whilst careful blending of the three varieties creates the harmonious balance that characterises AIX. The winemaking philosophy emphasises minimal intervention, allowing the quality of the fruit and the distinctive terroir of Maison Saint Aix to express themselves authentically in every bottle.

The Art of Provence Living

AIX Rosé embodies more than exceptional winemaking—it captures the essence of the Provence lifestyle, where appreciation for beauty, quality, and the simple pleasures of life define daily existence. The wine's elegant presentation, from its distinctive bottle to its hypnotising colour, reflects the sophistication and style that characterise Provence's cultural heritage. Whether enjoyed on a sun-drenched terrace overlooking lavender fields, paired with fresh seafood at a coastal restaurant, or shared with friends at an impromptu gathering, AIX Rosé has the power to transform ordinary moments into memorable experiences. This is rosé crafted for those who understand that wine is not merely a beverage but an expression of place, tradition, and the art of living well.
