The Ruinart Rosé Second Skin Champagne is a delicate pomegranate pink with very slightly orange reflections. The sparkling, light effervescence has a persistent foam. The nose is subtle and fresh, first offering an original palette of tropical fruits (guava and lychee)and small berries (raspberries, cherries and wild strawberries) in the first instance. These are followed by rose and pomegranate notes which complete the complex, intense aromatic profile, dominated by somewhat undeveloped primary aromas. On the palate the attack is distinct and full, cradled by a gentle effervescence. The aromas of freshly picked berries are fully expressed. The balance brings together a delightful freshness and voluptuous body, expressed by an elegant bracing touch of mint and pink grapefruit.

Winery & Vintage Info

The philosophy of the House of Ruinart has remained unchanged since it was created in 1729. Cultivating the perfect balance between elegance and beauty, discernment and indulgence, the search for perfection is evident in all the House cuvées, the “Ruinart taste” typified by elegance, refinement, freshness and distinction.

Ruinart Rosé which began shipping in 1764, is the deliciously fruity expression of the Ruinart taste. Supple, rounded and generous, Ruinart Rosé offers a complex, intense aromatic richness and a charming pomegranate colour with light orange reflections. A perfect blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties, the Rosé cuvée owes its elegant harmony to 45% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims vineyards and to 55% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne vineyards, 18 to 19% of which have been made into red wine. Each harvest is very carefully gathered by hand.

An intense, generous grape, the Pinot Noir is typified by the depth of its colour and a distinct structure. It brings body and amplitude to the Ruinart Rosé blend. Chardonnay is at the soul of the Ruinart taste and provides aromatic freshness in the Rosé. An extremely demanding fruit, the grape is delicate and fragile, requiring particular mastery during its slow maturation. Bright, pure and intense, it finds its expression through fresh aromas of mint and pink grapefruit. The blending technique with a short maceration and a light extraction of grapes made into red wine preserves the aromas and offers a silky, voluptuous palate, with little tannin, thus making it very light.

The refined, elegant Ruinart Rosé champagne is thus based on the harmonious blend of a high concentration of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay gives it its refinement, elegance and balance, while the Pinot Noir provides its delicate fruitiness with generous, spicy notes. A blend that also requires time, nature and the exceptional expertise of the House Cellar Master, who has the skill, the art and the know-how to see it to fruition.
