Devil’s Corner Resolution Pinot Noir 2025 is made with premium parcels of fruit from the Hazards Vineyard on Tasmania’s east coast — selected each year by winemaker Tom Wallace for their superior terroir and the weather’s influence on flavour. Deep crimson red; vibrant cherry, red berry, and subtle spice on the nose with blackberry, sour cherry, and hints of cedar from quality French oak; a juicy, fruit-driven middle palate with crisp savoury texture and fine-grained tannins. Cool-climate elegance with an intensity of flavour that truly sets Devil’s Corner apart.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Deep crimson red — the rich, concentrated colour of a premium Hazards Vineyard Pinot Noir, selected from only the finest parcels of fruit on Tasmania’s east coast where the vines meet the sea.

Aroma

Vibrant and expressive — cherry, red berry, and subtle spice lead with freshness and cool-climate elegance, with blackberry, sour cherry, and hints of cedar from quality French oak adding depth and complexity. The unmistakable aromatic character of the Hazards Vineyard, nurtured by the extra gust of wind, lash of a storm, or generous kiss of sunshine from nature itself.

Palate

Full-bodied and fruit-driven — a juicy middle palate of blackberry and sour cherry with crisp savoury texture and fine-grained tannins providing structure and length. The partial whole-bunch wild yeast ferment adds texture and complexity, with the intensity and concentration of the Hazards Vineyard carrying through to a savoury, balanced, and lingering finish.

Pairs With

A Pinot Noir of this intensity and concentration calls for quality food accompaniments — chargrilled lamb cutlets marinated in chimichurri with bok choy, or whole roasted duck with Mediterranean vegetables and a deep red wine jus. Equally superb with mushroom risotto, aged hard cheeses, and charcuterie. Serve slightly cool at 14–16°C.

Who Should Drink This?

Devil’s Corner Resolution Pinot Noir is for lovers of fruit-driven, approachable cool-climate Pinot Noir who want the genuine depth and intensity of Tasmanian viticulture without the price tag of a prestige single-vineyard expression. It’s a natural choice for anyone who appreciates the adventurous spirit of the Devil’s Corner estate — bold yet humble, fearless yet considered — and a compelling introduction to the character of the Hazards Vineyard on Tasmania’s east coast.

Why Is Tasmanian Pinot Noir Special?

Tasmania is one of Australia’s most exciting and celebrated cool-climate wine regions — producing Pinot Noir of exceptional freshness, depth, and complexity that consistently rivals the best of Burgundy and the Yarra Valley. The east coast, where Devil’s Corner’s Hazards Vineyard is located, is particularly well-suited to Pinot Noir — the sea influence, cool temperatures, and unforgiving coastal conditions creating fruit of genuine intensity and the unmistakable character of place that defines the best Tasmanian Pinot Noir.

Is It Worth Ageing?

Resolution Pinot Noir is crafted as a fruit-driven drink-now style, but the depth and concentration of the Hazards Vineyard fruit give it the structure to cellar confidently for up to three years. Drink now to enjoy the vibrant cherry, red berry, and dark fruit character at their most expressive, or cellar to 2027–2028 for added complexity and integration. Store on its side in a cool, dark environment.

What’s Similar?

Fans of Devil’s Corner Resolution Pinot Noir may also enjoy other Tasmanian Pinot Noir from producers like Pipers Brook and Josef Chromy for a comparable cool-climate depth and intensity, or explore Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir for a similar fruit-driven elegance and freshness. For a step up within the Devil’s Corner range, the single-vineyard expressions offer the ultimate expression of the Hazards Vineyard character.

Winemaking Notes

Sourced exclusively from the Hazards Vineyard on Tasmania’s east coast — selected each year by winemaker Tom Wallace for superior terroir and the weather’s influence on flavour. Cold soaked and plunged twice daily until fermentation began; wild yeast ferment completed with partial whole bunches to add texture and complexity, with hand plunging in open top fermenters up to four times daily at temperatures bordering 30°C. Basket pressed and settled for 48 hours before transfer to French oak, of which 16% was new.

Producer History

Named after a rugged patch in the nearby waters of Tasmania’s east coast, Devil’s Corner approaches winemaking as the intrepid sailors who dared to cross it approached the sea: bold yet humble, fearless yet considered. Born and bred on the east coast of Tasmania, the Devil’s Corner team holds a special kind of adventurous spirit — never fighting against the elements, but knowing when to lean into them. “The dance with nature is fantastic. It makes different wines each year.” — Winemaker Tom Wallace.
