Oakridge Blanc de Blancs 2019 captures the elegance and complexity that make traditional-method sparkling Chardonnay so compelling. Made in the Yarra Valley and aged on lees for five and a half years, it combines bright citrus fruit with the savoury depth of freshly baked bread and roasted nuts.

There is a lovely sense of balance here. Fine, persistent bubbles carry the wine across the palate, while its lively acidity and creamy texture work together beautifully. A sophisticated Australian sparkling wine with plenty to discover in every glass.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Bright, pale green-gold with a fine, persistent bead.

Aroma

Fresh apple, lemon zest and grapefruit mingle with aromas of baked bread, roasted nuts and preserved citrus. A delicate herbal lift adds another dimension.

Palate

Elegant and finely textured, with lively citrus, orchard fruit and a beautifully integrated mousse. Grapefruit and preserved lemon sit alongside gentle pastry richness, while a subtle chalky character provides definition and freshness.

Finish

Long, seamless and refreshing, with lingering citrus, savoury nuttiness and finely balanced acidity.

Food Pairing & Serving

An excellent companion to freshly shucked oysters, scallops, crab, smoked trout and delicate seafood dishes. Its richness and freshness also work beautifully with roast chicken.

Serve chilled at approximately 8–10°C.

Critic Reviews

Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

“66 months on lees before being disgorged, and with six months on cork before being released. 4.5g/L dosage. A very bright green gold. Tiny, persistent bead. Discreet with aromas of fresh-out-of-the-oven baked apple, citrus scents and a gentle nuttiness. Gently caresses the palate, which is very even, chalky and long. Lovely wine from start to finish! Drink now and over the next four to six years.”

97 Points - Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

“A vigorous bead and mousse when poured. There’s some lifted and complex aromas of pastry, nougat, white stone fruit, jasmine and a pithy, citrus edge. The palate is fine, intense and focused, with stone fruit, grapefruit and tingly acidity all at play. Will benefit from cellaring.”

94 Points - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

“The quality and class of Oakridge Blanc de Blancs has been on the up and up over time and this is another excellent release. Bread, lemonade, blackcurrant bud, preserved lemon, sweet roasted nuts and grapefruit characters all combine into one, delicious, elegant whole. Lifted aromatics, sound length and a seamless palate are all hallmarks here.”
