Yering Station Chardonnay 2024 is available here in a beautiful 375ml half-bottle — the perfect format for sharing a glass or two of one of the Yarra Valley’s most celebrated Chardonnays, without committing to a full bottle. The proud definition of the Yering Station house style, this wine displays a tight mineral backbone overlaid with opulent stone fruit creaminess, a richly complex centre, and the long, lingering finish that is the hallmark of great Yarra Valley Chardonnay. Nougat, cashew cream, lemon curd, honeysuckle, and juicy pomelo on the nose; fine white grapefruit phenolics, salty lemon acidity, and a beautifully fragrant mix of white flowers and orange blossom on the palate. Rated 95 points by Wine Pilot, 94 points by The Wine Front and Halliday Wine Companion. Cellar 5–10 years.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Pale gold — the fresh, luminous colour of a 100% Yarra Valley Chardonnay of genuine precision and elegance, with the clarity and brightness that careful vineyard management and barrel fermentation in puncheons deliver.

Aroma

Nougat, cashew cream, lemon curd, honeysuckle flowers, and juicy pomelo — a nose of genuine complexity and Yarra Valley character, with the delicate white floral lift and fine citrus precision that define the Yering Station house style.

Palate

Fine white grapefruit phenolics wrap around a salty lemon acidity — beautifully fragrant white flowers, orange blossom, and frangipani, with light hints of bay leaf guiding white stone fruits through a persistent, elegant finish. Richly complex, tightly wound, and built for the cellar. Cellar 5–10 years.

Pairs With

Yering Station Chardonnay 2024 pairs beautifully with lightly poached trout, pan-seared scallops, lobster, roasted chicken, creamy pasta, and soft washed-rind cheeses — the 375ml half-bottle format ideal for an elegant dinner for two.

Reviews

95 pts — Shanteh Wale, Wine Pilot
“Tightly wound with delicate white florals, fennel and guava. This is tropical but finely etched with pomelo citrus. Almond butter and upside down pineapple cake. There is a mid palate of candied fruits, attractive and alluring. The whisper of new oak adds creamy tones and buffered edges. This looks very fresh and will drink well now but also continue to develop slowly over the next 3–6 years.”

94 pts — Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
“This is an example of precise Yarra engineering. Nothing is out of place; everything feels high spec; it’s tense of long and bristling with fruit. It tastes of hazelnuts and citrus, nectarines and nashi pears, green apple and slate. Everything teams nicely. This is still very young but, even so, it’s very good.”

94 pts — Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
“A very bright green gold. Quite a step up on the Village Chardonnay at a still very reasonable price. Complex aromas of stone fruits, grilled nuts and a little matchstick. There’s good grip on the nicely intense and well-balanced palate. Finishes pithy and long.”

92 pts — Angus Hughson, Vinous
“Opens with generous wafts of nectarine and white peach, complemented by subtle, well-balanced toasty oak. The palate is punchy, showing a solid core of tropical flavours lifted by crushed nut complexity and touches of smoky reduction that build over a lengthy finish.”

Winemaking Notes

Barrel fermented and matured in puncheons (13% new) with a small proportion of malolactic fermentation. Mainly estate grown from Yering Station’s carefully managed Yarra Valley vineyards. Alcohol 13%, pH 3.34.

Vintage Conditions

The 2024 Yarra Valley vintage presented early challenges — high spring rainfall and humidity — before giving way to consistently warm temperatures that produced an earlier than expected start to the season and a very compressed vintage. The result was balanced wines with concentrated flavours and the hallmark Yarra Valley mineral precision and long, lingering finish.
