Rock Angel is one of Provence's most compelling rosés — a wine that balances delicacy with genuine structure. Crafted primarily from the estate vineyards of Château d'Esclans and selected parcels in the Esclans Valley, the 2025 delivers the wine's signature precision: pale salmon in the glass, with a nose of fresh red fruit, white florals, and flinty mineral lift. The palate is refined and velvety, built around gentle spice, mineral intensity, and a sustained, textural finish.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Delicate red berry fruit — strawberry and raspberry — with white floral notes, gentle spice, and a characteristic flinty, mineral undertone that lifts the aromatics and signals the wine's structural intent.

Palate

Refined and precise, with a rich, velvety texture that distinguishes Rock Angel from lighter Provençal rosés. Red fruit mid-palate, fresh acidity, and a mineral thread that carries through from nose to finish.

Finish

Sustained, clean, and mineral-driven. The flinty character endures, with excellent length for the style.

Blend & Winemaking

A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle/Vermentino, and Syrah from estate and selected Côtes de Provence fruit. Harvesting is conducted in the morning for estate grapes and overnight for sourced fruit — avoiding daytime heat to preserve freshness. Grapes are optically sorted, gently crushed, and cooled to approximately 7–8°C before closed-circuit pressing to minimise oxidation. Vinification takes place primarily in temperature-controlled 600L oak demi-muids, with a proportion in stainless steel. Regular bâtonnage over approximately six months adds texture and complexity before bottling.

Provence & Caves d'Esclans

Château d'Esclans sits in the Esclans Valley in the heart of Côtes de Provence — the world's benchmark region for serious rosé. Caves d'Esclans has redefined what Provençal rosé can achieve, with Rock Angel sitting at the top of the estate's prestige range and demonstrating that structure, oak complexity, and longevity are entirely within reach of the style.

Winery & Vintage Info

Rock Angel is made from grapes primarily from the vineyards of Château d'Esclans in addition to the most choice vineyards in the vicinity of the Esclans Valley and nearby in the Côtes de Provence region. Harvesting is conducted in the morning for estate-cultivated grapes and during the night-time for sourced grapes. This helps to avoid the heat of the day and to keep the crop fresh. Upon arriving in the cellars, grapes are sorted for both health and quality through optical eye sorting, ensuring that the grapes ultimately selected are assessed accurately in terms of overall quality. Next is soft crushing followed by temperature reduction from approximately 20°C down to 7–8°C to lock in freshness and vivacity. Closed-circuit pressing is conducted facilitating minimal oxidation, producing free-run juice which is vinified primarily in 600-litre temperature-controlled oak barrels (demi-muids) in addition to stainless steel temperature-controlled fermentation tanks, during which bâtonnage is conducted twice weekly over a six-month period prior to bottling.
