Mitchelton Print Shiraz 2018 represents the pinnacle of Mitchelton winemaking β€” a wine that continues the legacy of the 1990 vintage, recipient of the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy, building on a rich tradition that began with the inaugural Print Shiraz in 1982. Each vintage, the most impeccable parcels of wine are carefully assembled into a blend that showcases restrained power, complexity, and unquestionable pedigree. Lifted perfumed floral and spice notes, intense aromas of fresh blackberries, blackcurrants, and dark plums, and the aromatic influence of French oak β€” a Shiraz of genuine depth, focus, and persistence.Β

Appearance

Deep, concentrated ruby-purple β€” the rich, intense colour of a Shiraz assembled from the most impeccable parcels of each vintage, with the depth and density that restrained power and complex winemaking deliver.

Aroma

Lifted perfumed floral and spice notes lead an expressive and complex bouquet, with intense aromas of fresh blackberries, blackcurrants, and dark plums complemented by the aromatic influence of fine-grained French oak β€” a nose of genuine pedigree and depth.

Palate

Edgy palate tension reveals multiple layers of blackberry, dark plum, mulberry, Asian five spice, and complex minerality β€” plush, powdery fruit tannins dancing along the length of the palate and complementing the focused, intense fruit as it builds. Fine-grained French oak works seamlessly with the fruit tannins to provide structure, balance, and persistence to a deep core of concentrated, pure fruit.

Pairs With

Slow-roasted lamb shoulder, beef Wellington, venison, aged hard cheeses, and rich game dishes. A Shiraz of this structure and persistence belongs at a table that appreciates wines of genuine power, complexity, and pedigree.
