Turkey Flat's Estate Shiraz is assembled from individual parcels sourced from the Bethany and Stonewell vineyards in the Barossa Valley — two sites that have defined the estate's Shiraz identity for generations. Winemaker James Adams vinifies each parcel separately before blending, a discipline that preserves the distinct character of each site while building the wine's complexity and structure. The 2024 vintage, harvested in March from vines that include some of Australia's oldest Shiraz plantings dating to 1847, reflects a compressed, concentrated season that delivered fruit of exceptional depth and ripe, integrated tannins.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep red; further colour detail not confirmed by the 2024 producer evidence.

Nose: Concentrated blackberry and mulberry lead, layered with dark chocolate, olive tapenade, hints of chocolate-orange and seamlessly integrated oak.

Palate: Tightly structured with a mineral feel and graphite edge. The wine shows restraint and finesse while the underlying power of the Barossa remains present throughout.

Finish: Long, flavourful and juicy.

Winemaking

Fruit is sourced from the Bethany and Stonewell vineyards and vinified as individual parcels to preserve site character. Open-top fermenters are used throughout the fermentation process. The wine is matured in French oak for up to 18 months, with 25% new oak, building structure and complexity while allowing the fruit to remain the dominant force. Bottled December 2025.
