Dom Pérignon Vintage 2017 is shaped by contrast. Generous ripeness and a smooth, rounded palate meet the house’s iconic mineral tension, fresh acidity and a defined edge. Richness does not crowd out energy: the wine moves with fluidity and drive, balancing opulence with precision.
The year was dry and contrasted. A mild start gave way to 12 frost days in March and a reduced potential yield; hot, dry conditions through late spring and early summer encouraged early maturation and sugar concentration. Late-August rain changed conditions, making cropping strategy and rigorous selection important. Dom Pérignon reports that the harvested Chardonnay was the ripest since 2000, while healthy Pinot Noir showed a strong balance of maturity and freshness.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Petrichor, jasmine and candied citrus zest lead, with vegetal and fruity notes moving between warmth and freshness.
Palate: Generous ripeness and a rounded, smooth texture meet mineral tension, fresh acidity and a fine bitter edge. The palate moves fluidly from opulence to a straighter, energetic line.
Finish: Long and energetic, with candied yellow citrus skin carried by persistent mineral tension.
Vintage & Winemaking
Dom Pérignon describes 2017 as “a dry and contrasted year.” The season began mildly before 12 frost days in March reduced potential yield. Hot, dry conditions through the remainder of spring and early summer encouraged precocious maturation and sugar concentration. Rain at the end of August changed conditions, making cropping strategy and rigorous grape selection important. The harvested Chardonnay was the ripest since 2000, while healthy Pinot Noir showed a strong balance of maturity and freshness.
Dom Pérignon & Champagne
Dom Pérignon identifies mineral tension as an iconic signature of the house. In Vintage 2017, that signature is set against richness and ripe fruit, with freshness and acidity keeping the rounded palate precise and energetic.
