Winemaking Notes

Grapes harvested between February and April from the Yarra Valley, followed by a one to two-day cold soak to extract colour and aromatics whilst preserving the delicate fruit characters. Ten per cent whole bunch was incorporated during fermentation, with hand plunging and air maceration employed for gentle colour extraction. Indigenous fermentation with a combination of yeasts allows the natural terroir to express itself fully. Thirty per cent of the wine was matured for six months in French oak barrels — 10% new — adding subtle complexity and structure whilst maintaining the bright fruit and velvety texture that define this wine. Open-top fermenters, gentle handling, and a commitment to not overworking the wine ensure the bright fruit characters shine through on a long, smooth palate.

Vintage Conditions

The 2025 vintage was excellent for Pinot Noir across both the upper and lower Yarra Valley. A wet spring filled the dams and set up beautifully for a dry growing season in January and February — providing the ideal balance of water availability and ripening conditions for quality Pinot Noir production. The combination of cool mountainside vineyards and warmer valley floor sites delivered the diversity and complexity of flavour that make Yarra Valley Pinot Noir so compelling, with fruit from both areas ripening evenly whilst maintaining the elegant structure and velvety texture that characterise the region at its best.
