A Pinot Grigio of genuine King Valley character and De Bortoli craft.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

De Bortoli Bella Riva Pinot Grigio 2024 presents a bright, luminous pale straw with a hint of golden warmth — the hallmark of a premium King Valley Pinot Grigio sourced from sandstone and shale vineyard sites on the King River, fermented in stainless steel with a small portion in older French oak casks and left on yeast lees for texture and complexity. Fresh and immediately inviting in the glass.

Aroma

Pear leads the aromatics with a fresh, clean generosity — citrus adds a bright, zesty vibrancy, while delicate hints of spice add an intriguing complexity and depth. A subtle sea spray character weaves through with a distinctive, saline minerality that speaks eloquently of the sandstone and shale soils of the Bella Riva vineyard on the King River. The yeast lees ageing adds a gentle, creamy complexity that elevates the aromatics with texture and refinement.

Palate

Crisp and vibrant on the palate — pear and citrus lead with a fresh, clean brightness, while the smooth texture and mild saline character deliver a distinctive, mineral-driven complexity that is immediately appealing. The small portion fermented in older French oak casks adds a gentle, integrated warmth and depth, and the yeast lees ageing contributes a satisfying texture and complexity that lingers on the finish. A Pinot Grigio of genuine elegance, King Valley terroir and De Bortoli craft.

Pairs With

A natural match for flathead tails and chips, fresh oysters, grilled prawns or a classic King Valley antipasto spread — equally outstanding alongside steamed mussels, pan-fried snapper, prawn linguine, soft-ripened cheeses or a light summer salad with citrus dressing. The pear, citrus, spice and saline minerality make this one of the most refined and rewarding King Valley Pinot Grigios available. Serve well chilled. Enjoy now while young and fresh.
