Tasting Notes

Appearance

Luminous pale to mid-gold with a bright, clean clarity — the inviting colour of an estate Chardonnay from Sunbury’s cool-climate vineyards, crafted with the precision and care that single-estate winemaking delivers.

Aroma

An elegant bouquet of white peach, chargrilled pineapple, nectarine, and lemon, with cashew and spice notes adding complexity and depth. Subtle oak integration adds layers without overwhelming the pristine fruit character that defines Craiglee Chardonnay.

Palate

Flavoursome yet well composed — white stone fruits and grapefruit with a dab of spice, a fine layer of creamy, nutty lees, and juicy acidity to close. Excellent structure and textural complexity, with the balance and depth to age gracefully.

Pairs With

A natural partner for roast chicken, pan-seared scallops, grilled prawns, creamy pasta, mushroom risotto, and soft cheeses — the full-bodied palate, creamy lees texture, and juicy acidity make Craiglee Chardonnay a deeply versatile and elegant companion for the finest food at the table.

Reviews

“A mid-gold hue and bright; full of white peach, chargrilled pineapple and lemon. It’s flavoursome yet well composed. A dab of spice, a fine layer of creamy/nutty lees and juicy acidity to close, and it all adds to the pleasure of drinking this.”

Winemaking Notes

Craiglee Chardonnay is produced from entirely estate-grown fruit and made on-site by winemaker Pat Carmody — a commitment to single-estate viticulture that ensures complete control over fruit quality from vineyard to bottle. Careful oak integration adds complexity and structure whilst preserving the wine’s elegant fruit purity, with fermentation and maturation managed with precision to develop the characteristic full-bodied palate, textural richness, and the potential for graceful cellaring that define this wine.

Vintage Conditions

The 2024 vintage in Sunbury provided excellent conditions for Chardonnay — the region’s cool-climate characteristics allowing fruit to develop optimal flavour intensity whilst retaining the natural acidity essential for balance and freshness. Ideal ripening conditions delivered the distinctive white peach, chargrilled pineapple, and lemon aromatics alongside concentrated stone fruit and grapefruit on the palate. Meticulous vineyard management and Pat Carmody’s skilled winemaking have resulted in a Chardonnay of exceptional balance and complexity that authentically represents one of Victoria’s most distinguished wine-growing regions.
