Albert Bichot Château de Varennes Beaujolais Villages 2024 is a fresh, fruit-driven Gamay from the historic Château de Varennes estate in Quincié-en-Beaujolais — an 11th-century property owned by the Charveriat family since 1809. Planted on granitic south-facing slopes and aged in stainless steel without oak, the wine expresses the natural freshness and red fruit character that define quality Beaujolais Villages Gamay.

Appearance

Vivid ruby with a violet-tinged rim and the bright, translucent clarity typical of unoaked Gamay from granitic terroir.

Nose

Lifted and immediately inviting — violet and peony lead with ripe raspberry and blackcurrant following closely. A subtle mineral undercurrent from the granitic soils adds definition to the fruit.

Palate

Light to medium-bodied with a juicy, fleshy entry and excellent freshness. Raspberry and red cherry dominate the mid-palate, supported by fine, silky tannins and a clean line of acidity. The finish is refreshing and fruit-forward, with no oak weight to interrupt the wine's natural energy.

Winemaking

Fermenting maceration in thermoregulated open vats for approximately 10 days. Aged in stainless steel vats for 6–7 months. No oak — preserving the wine's natural floral aromatics and fresh fruit character.
