Mount Langi Ghiran is one of Australia’s most celebrated cool-climate producers, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria’s Grampians. The name comes from the Aboriginal phrase for “home of the yellow-tailed black cockatoo” — and the estate has the same rare, unhurried character as its namesake.

Founded by the Fratin brothers in 1969 and shaped by the vision of winemaker Trevor Mast, the winery built its reputation on Langi Shiraz — a benchmark cool-climate expression that earned international recognition before the style was fashionable. Today, Chief Winemaker Adam Louder continues that pursuit, making wines that are unmistakably from this place.

The Wines

Shiraz is the heart of the Mount Langi Ghiran portfolio. The range moves from the approachable Billi Billi through the site-driven Cliff Edge to the flagship Langi — each a different expression of what the Grampians does with this variety. Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Franc complete a range built around varieties that reward the cool, long growing season that makes this site so unusual in the Australian context.
