Chrismont's La Zona Pinot Grigio is one of Australia's most consistent expressions of the variety — grown from some of the country's most established Pinot Grigio vines in the cool alpine valleys of King Valley, Victoria. Winemaker Warren Proft harvests early to lock in the variety's defining freshness: a lifted floral lift, bright orchard fruit, and the natural acidity that gives this wine its clean, refreshing line.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Very pale straw.

Nose: Aromatic pear and green apple with a slight floral lift.

Palate: Apple and crunchy pear with background spice. Bright, mouth-watering acidity gives good line and length.

Finish: Refreshing.

Winemaking

Fruit is harvested early to retain light floral fruit flavours and good natural acidity. The juice is handled oxidatively to naturally remove colour and unwanted tannins before settling and racking. Cool fermentation in stainless steel preserves the wine's fresh fruit character, followed by a short maturation on lees through autumn and winter before bottling in spring.

Chrismont has been central to the King Valley's identity as Australia's home of Italian wine varieties, and the La Zona series is the clearest expression of that commitment — wines made from fruit that reflects both the alpine elevation of the valley and the Italian heritage that defines the region's character.
