Xanadu Chardonnay 2024 is a modern, sophisticated expression of Margaret River at its finest. Crafted from 100% Gingin clone Chardonnay, whole bunch pressed and wild yeast fermented in French oak barriques, this is a wine of genuine purity, elegance, and complexity. Medium-bodied with a fine, focused structure, it displays the classic hallmarks of the region with impressive clarity. While drinking beautifully in its youth, this Chardonnay will certainly reward careful cellaring.

Appearance

Pale straw with a bright, luminous clarity in the glass.

Aroma

Citrus, white-fleshed nectarines, and loquats lead the nose, with delicate hints of wet stone and nutmeg adding intrigue and a sense of place.

Palate

Medium-bodied and finely structured, the palate delivers fresh pear, stonefruit, and tangy citrus with impressive precision. Quartz-like minerality and pithy grapefruit phenolics provide excellent backbone, making for a long, fine, and focused finish of real distinction.

Pairs With

Freshly shucked oysters, pan-seared barramundi, lobster bisque, soft-rind cheeses, and roasted chicken with lemon and herbs.

Winemaking Notes

Made from Gingin clone Chardonnay, all fruit was whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented using wild yeast in select French oak barriques, with 25% new oak. The wine was matured for nine months in barrel across multiple batches, resulting in a wine of seamless texture and restrained oak influence. A pH of 3.05 underpins the wine’s natural tension and fine acid line.

Vintage Conditions

The 2024 Margaret River vintage will be remembered as one of the earliest, warmest, and driest in recent years. The conditions delivered wines of considerable power and concentration, with fruit ripening rapidly under sustained warmth and minimal rainfall. For Chardonnay, the season produced fruit of exceptional intensity whilst retaining the natural acidity and structural precision that defines the Margaret River style.
