Delas Saint-Esprit Côtes du Rhône 2023 is a classic Rhône Valley red from one of France's most respected négociant houses — available here in the 375mL format, offering the identical 2023 wine in a versatile half-bottle size. Syrah and Grenache from the broad Côtes du Rhône appellation, fermented in sealed vats and matured for eight months before bottling to preserve vibrant fruit and authentic Rhône character.

Appearance

Deep ruby red with vibrant purple highlights, displaying youthful character and the intensity typical of a well-made Côtes du Rhône from a warm vintage.

Aroma

Classic Syrah aromatics lead with ripe berries, fragrant violet, and liquorice, creating an inviting and complex bouquet. Subtle notes of black pepper, wild herbs, and dark cherry add layers of intrigue, whilst a whisper of garrigue reflects the wine's authentic Rhône Valley terroir.

Palate

The palate is full and smooth, delivering generous flavours of blackberry, raspberry, and plum supported by gentle, supple tannins that provide structure without heaviness. Notes of spice, liquorice, and dried herbs weave through the fruit, with a balanced and persistent finish showcasing the wine's elegance and drinkability.

Pairs With

Ideal alongside Provençale dishes, stuffed vegetables, grilled lamb chops, herb-crusted chicken, ratatouille, beef daube, or aged Comté cheese. This versatile Rhône red complements Mediterranean cuisine beautifully. Serve at 16–18°C.

Winery & Vintage Info

Saint-Esprit is the flagship Côtes du Rhône cuvée from Delas Frères, a Rhône Valley négociant house founded in 1835 and now part of the Champagne Deutz group. The vineyards span approximately 41,200 hectares across the broad Côtes du Rhône appellation, subject to a Mediterranean climate moderated by the Mistral wind — essential for vine health and natural acidity.

Grapes are de-stemmed. Fermentation and maceration take place in sealed temperature-controlled vats at 28–30°C for approximately 15 days, with daily pump-overs for optimal extraction. After de-vatting, pressing and racking, malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats. The wine is matured in vat for eight months to preserve freshness and primary fruit before bottling. Average production: approximately 500,000 bottles (75cl basis), primarily Syrah with Grenache.
