This 2021 Tim Adams Shiraz from Clare Valley is a refined and cultivated wine made from carefully chosen premium vineyards. Its intense crimson colour suggests notes of blackberry, mulberry, and cherries. With intricacy developed through two years of ageing in American oak barrels. Full-bodied with a delicate mid-palate of small berry fruits and spice, with a harmonious balance of oak and smooth, structured tannins on the finish. Its strength and sophistication make it a delightful choice now, and a worthy candidate for cellaring for up to 10 years.

Winery & Vintage Info

Some of the best Shiraz blocks from vineyards across the Clare Valley were carefully selected to produce our Tim Adams Shiraz, a wine with strong regional and varietal definition.

This graceful Clare Shiraz has power and finesse which makes it both approachable now and worthy of keeping for up to 10 years. We make our wines naturally and therefore this wine may form a harmless crystalline deposit, so we recommend decanting prior to serving.

The growing season leading up to vintage 2021 was slightly cooler than average, resulting in one of the best years in a recent history when it comes to quality. The wine is sophisticated and elegant with a vibrant deep purple hue and aromas and flavours of black cherry, blackcurrant and black plums, all in good harmony with the spice oak flavours and dark chocolate that comes from a maturation in American oak for 24 months.

The components of this blend were harvested at the pick of their ripeness and fermented on skins to dryness for 8-10 days before pressing. Some of the pressings were lately blended back with the free-run for added structure and mouthfeel.

The individual batches spent 24 months in a combination of new and seasoned American oak barrels and a further 18 months in stainless steel tanks that allowed for integration and softening of oak tannins. The long maturation period was followed by blending, fining and bottling.
