Winemaking Notes

Crafted from 94% Sangiovese, 3% Canaiolo, and 3% Colorino — hand-harvested in September from certified organic vineyards at 100 metres above sea level. Grapes are de-stemmed, crushed, and fermented in temperature-controlled cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, with spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine matures 50% in concrete tanks and 50% in large un-toasted 54hl barrels before blending, followed by several months of bottle refinement.

Producer History

Poggiotondo is a certified organic estate in Tuscany producing wines exclusively from estate-grown grapes. A return to traditional vineyard management abolished all synthetic chemicals — allowing the soil to regenerate, encouraging vines to develop their own antibodies, and delivering healthier fruit of greater character and longevity. The same non-invasive principles guide the winery: indigenous yeasts, minimal intervention, and an unwavering commitment to expressing the true character of the estate and its Tuscan terroir.
