Poggiotondo Vermentino 2025 opens with an aromatic flourish of lily, daffodil, white peach, and golden apple, lifted by bright citrus peel and a whisper of tropical fruit. The palate is crisp and mineral-driven, with stone fruit and citrus vibrancy underpinned by refreshing acidity and a smooth, savoury close of genuine length — certified organic Tuscan coastal winemaking at its most expressive. Crafted by Alberto Antonini from hand-harvested fruit grown on fossilised seashell soils along the Tuscan coast.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Luminous straw-yellow with warm golden highlights — brilliant, clear, and alive with the coastal Mediterranean vibrancy that speaks directly to the fossilised seashell soils and sea-influenced terroir of the Poggiotondo estate in the hills of western Tuscany.

Aroma

Delicate white florals lead — lily and daffodil — before giving way to ripe white peach, golden apple, and zesty citrus peel of genuine freshness and precision. A subtle undercurrent of tropical fruit adds intrigue without overwhelming the wine’s inherent elegance. An aromatic profile of outstanding purity, shaped by organic viticulture certified since 2014.

Palate

Crisp and medium-bodied with a beautifully defined mineral backbone — vibrant stone fruit and citrus flavours with effortless freshness and poise. The marine-origin soils speak clearly through the wine’s pronounced minerality, whilst refreshing acidity keeps everything lively and focused. The finish is smooth, gently savoury, and persistent.

Pairs With

A natural partner for the seafood table — grilled prawns, pan-seared scallops, linguine alle vongole, fresh oysters, and mozzarella di bufala all sing alongside this wine. Equally at home with light risotto, grilled white fish, or a simple Mediterranean salad with good olive oil and lemon.

Winemaking Notes

Crafted by Alberto Antonini at the Poggiotondo estate from 100% hand-harvested Vermentino grown in certified organic vineyards on marine-origin soils rich with fossilised seashells along the Tuscan coast. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the variety’s delicate aromatics, followed by approximately 60 days on lees to build texture and complexity. No oak — the focus is entirely on crisp varietal purity and coastal freshness.

Vintage Conditions

The 2025 growing season along the Tuscan coast delivered Vermentino of exceptional aromatic concentration and structural balance — rewarding the patient, organic approach that Poggiotondo has practised since certification in 2014. The estate’s marine-origin soils, layered with fossilised seashells and shaped by centuries of Mediterranean influence, contributed the pronounced minerality and saline freshness that give this wine its distinctive coastal identity. A Vermentino of immediate drinking pleasure, genuine organic integrity, and enduring Tuscan coastal distinction.
