Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut NV is the House’s iconic Champagne since its creation in 1869 — a non-vintage brut that epitomises the distinctive style of Moët & Chandon, characterised by vibrant fruitiness, a captivating palate, and elegant maturity. Crafted from a blend of over 100 different wines, with 20% to 30% reserve wines carefully selected to enhance maturity, complexity, and consistency, and assembled from three varieties: Pinot Noir (30–40%) for body, Pinot Meunier (30–40%) for suppleness, and Chardonnay (20–30%) for finesse. The benchmark by which all non-vintage Champagne is measured.

Appearance

Brilliant pale gold with a persistent stream of fine, delicate bubbles forming an elegant mousse — remarkable clarity and luminosity in the glass, and the hallmark of a Champagne house that has been setting the standard for non-vintage blending since 1743.

Aroma

Vibrant citrus opens the nose — lemon zest and green apple, complemented by white stone fruits of peach and pear. Subtle brioche and toasted almonds reveal complexity and careful maturation, with delicate white floral undertones adding an elegant, refined dimension that is unmistakably Impérial.

Palate

Lively and beautifully balanced — crisp acidity with flavours of citrus, green apple, and ripe pear, carried by a creamy, persistent mousse that creates a luxurious mouthfeel. Notes of fresh bread and subtle minerality provide depth, and the finish is clean, refreshing, and remarkably long. The art of Champagne blending at its finest.

Pairs With

Oysters, smoked salmon, sushi, caviar, soft cheeses such as brie and camembert, light seafood, and delicate canapés — or simply as the perfect apéritif for any celebration, occasion, or moment that deserves the world’s most recognised Champagne.

Winemaking Notes

The Impérial assemblage is crafted from over 100 different wines drawn from across the Moët & Chandon estate, with 20% to 30% reserve wines blended in to enhance maturity, complexity, and the consistency that defines the non-vintage style. Pinot Noir (30–40%) provides body and structure; Pinot Meunier (30–40%) adds suppleness and roundness; Chardonnay (20–30%) contributes finesse and freshness. The harmonious interplay of all three varieties is the foundation of Impérial’s captivating and immediately recognisable character.

Producer History

Moët & Chandon was founded in Épernay in 1743 by Claude Moët, and has since become the world’s most celebrated Champagne house — supplying the courts of Europe, accompanying Napoleon on his campaigns, and defining the global language of celebration for nearly three centuries. The Impérial cuvée was created in 1869, named in honour of Moët’s enduring friendship with Napoleon Bonaparte, and has been the House’s signature non-vintage blend ever since. Consistent, elegant, and unmistakable — the Champagne that the world reaches for first.
