Conti Serristori Sangiovese Toscana 2020 is a dry, fragrant, and characterfully Tuscan Sangiovese from one of Italy’s most storied wine estates — a winery with roots stretching back 400 years to the noble Florentine Serristori family, and to the Sant’Andrea in Percussina estate where Niccolò Machiavelli wrote The Prince while exiled from Florence. Ruby red with fragrant aromas of raspberries and wild strawberries; dry, candid, and thoroughly Tuscan on the palate, finishing on nicely lingering notes of blackberries and almonds. Based in Gaggiano at 300 metres above sea level on the Chianti Classico hills, Conti Serristori is a name that connects the world of wine to five centuries of Florentine history.

Fragrant and inviting — raspberries and wild strawberries, with the subtle, characterfully Tuscan bouquet of a Sangiovese crafted by a noble Florentine family whose ties to the world of wine date back to the 15th century.

Producer History

Four hundred years ago, the Conti Serristori — a noble Florentine family — acquired through marriage the Sant’Andrea in Percussina estate from the Machiavelli family, where the great Niccolò wrote his most important works, including The Prince, The Mandrake, and Clizia, while exiled from Florence. The brand takes its name from the venerable Serristori family, whose ties to the world of wine date back to the 15th century, when Antonio Serristori, senator of the Republic of Florence, married the last heir of Niccolò Machiavelli — who brought with her a dowry including the farm, vines, and olive groves of Sant’Andrea in Percussina. The Conti Serristori winery is based in Gaggiano on the Chianti Classico hills, along the road from Poggibonsi to Castellina. Five centuries of Florentine history. One Sangiovese.
