Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified 2019 is a Rutherglen fortified red built around Durif and traditional Portuguese varieties. Durif makes up 49% of the blend, joined by Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Nacional and Souzão, producing a deeply coloured, expressive wine with floral lift, generous dark fruit and the structure to develop with age.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep, vivid red-purple.
Nose: Fragrant roses, blackberry and violet.
Palate: Milk chocolate, dark berries and ripe cherry combine with generous fruit weight and gentle tannins.
Finish: Long and elegant, with lingering dark fruit and fine tannin structure.
Blend
Durif 49%, Tinta Roriz 31%, Tinto Cão 9%, Touriga Nacional 8% and Souzão 2%.
Winemaking
Fermentation was stopped at approximately 7% alcohol through the addition of grape spirit, retaining sweetness and fruit character. The wine then spent a short period in oak before being bottled early to preserve freshness and fruit expression.
