Full fragrance and generous texture of ripe Grenache fruit, balanced with fresh tannins and a subtle hint of Provence herbs. Exceptional quality. Exceptional value.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Deep ruby with vibrant clarity — the rich, inviting colour of a Southern Rhône Grenache and Syrah blend from an estate with almost 100 hectares under vine on the high plateau of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, covered in the large round pudding stones the appellation is so well known for.

Aroma

Full fragrance of ripe Grenache fruit with a subtle hint of Provence herbs — the characteristic and highly sought-after aromatic profile of a Southern Rhône red from an estate of genuine pedigree and precision, with optical sorting at harvest ensuring fruit of exceptional quality and clarity.

Palate

Generous texture and ripe Grenache fruit, balanced with fresh tannins and the subtle Provence herb character that defines Mont-Redon’s Côtes du Rhône style. Elegant and fruity, with the structure to age gracefully for 12 to 18 months or more from harvest.

Pairs With

A natural partner for roast lamb, grilled meats, Mediterranean dishes, herb-crusted chicken, soft cheeses, and charcuterie — the ripe Grenache fruit, fresh tannins, and Provence herb character make Chateau Mont-Redon Réserve a deeply versatile and satisfying companion for the table.

Winemaking Notes

All grapes hand-picked for optimal fruit selection — a major point of quality at Mont-Redon. One hundred per cent destemmed, followed by maceration of 15 to 18 days for good tannic structure and ageing potential. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is kept in temperature-controlled vats for 8 to 10 months before bottling and further cellaring prior to release. Crafted to be appreciated 12 to 18 months after harvest, with the elegance, fruit, and structure to reward patience.

Producer History

Chateau Mont-Redon will be familiar to those who know and love Châteauneuf-du-Pape — recognised as the owner of some of the most highly regarded vineyard sites in the appellation, and one of the few properties historically classified as a Grand Cru in the region alongside Chateau Rayas. With almost 100 hectares under vine on the high plateau covered in the large round pudding stones that Châteauneuf is so well known for, Mont-Redon is in fact a single vineyard of remarkable character and consistency. Considerable investment over the past twelve years has completely renewed the winery — climate-controlled throughout, with rows of oak barriques, large temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, and optical sorting machines at harvest delivering wines of freshness, finesse, and great precision. The most improved producer in the Southern Rhône. And arguably its best value. Since always.
