Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2024 is a refined, medium-bodied red from Italy’s Abruzzo region — deep reddish-purple in colour, with a nuanced nose of coffee and dark chocolate, silky tannins, and a smooth texture that culminates in a subtle, elegant finish. A balanced and sophisticated expression of the Montepulciano grape from one of Abruzzo’s most celebrated producers. Each bottle is finished with a small piece of grape vine around its neck — the tralcetto, or necktie — a signature detail that has made Zaccagnini one of the most recognisable bottles in Italian wine.

Palate

Medium-bodied and dry — silky tannins and a smooth texture deliver a palate of genuine balance and sophistication, culminating in a subtle, elegant finish that speaks of careful winemaking and the quality of the Abruzzo terroir.

Winemaking Notes

Crafted from Montepulciano grapes through soft pressing, submerged cap maceration, and fermentation at controlled temperature — with racking carried out when the established criteria are reached. A winemaking approach focused on preserving the variety’s natural silky tannin structure and smooth texture whilst building the depth and complexity that define Zaccagnini’s Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.

Producer History

Cantina Zaccagnini is one of Abruzzo’s most celebrated and recognisable wine producers — known as much for the iconic tralcetto as for the quality of the wine inside the bottle. The small piece of grape vine tied around the neck of each bottle is a signature detail that has become synonymous with Zaccagnini and with the character of Abruzzo winemaking — rooted in tradition, expressive of the land, and impossible to mistake for anything else.
