Field St sits at the heart of S.C. Pannell’s McLaren Vale range. It is Stephen Pannell’s house Shiraz — a wine built around the purity and breadth of McLaren Vale fruit rather than the weight and extraction of modern winemaking. Medium-bodied, fresh and balanced, it is a Shiraz that rewards drinking as much as it rewards attention.
Tasting Notes
Aroma
Blackberry, red cherry and dark cherry with pomegranate molasses and Chambord liqueur. Savoury iodine, bay and raspberry jelly notes add complexity and character. Fresh and vibrant throughout.
Palate
Medium-bodied and flowing across the front palate, tightening through the mid-palate with measured tannin and vibrant natural acidity. The finish is long and fine, carrying the fruit and savoury complexity with restraint and precision.
Vineyard & Vintage
Fruit for the 2024 Field St Shiraz was sourced from Olivers Road and other S.C. Pannell McLaren Vale vineyards. The 2024 growing season began with a cool spring and finished with a warm, dry autumn. The red wines showed strong varietal aromatics, natural acidity and balanced flavour and tannin — producing a definitively medium-bodied profile with excellent fruit freshness.
Winemaking
Picked on 21 February with 12% whole bunches, gently crushed and fermented in open-top stainless-steel fermenters with twice-daily pump overs for 12 days. The wine was gently pressed and settled in tank before transfer to old French oak puncheons for malolactic fermentation and maturation. It was racked twice and bottled in late January 2026 without adjustment or fining.

Enjoy now or cellar for up to five years (2026–2031). Serve at 16–18°C.
Food Pairing
An ideal partner for Polpette or Pesto alla Trapanese. Also excellent with grilled lamb and char-grilled beef.
