Winemaking Notes

Bream Creek Chardonnay 2025 is crafted from fruit grown in the vineyard’s 7.5-hectare site at Marion Bay in the south-east of Tasmania — a site of extraordinary cool-climate terroir and viticultural heritage, originally planted in 1974 and expanded by Fred Peacock following his purchase in 1990. The winemaking approach focuses on capturing the aromatic intensity and balanced character that defines this cool-climate Tasmanian expression, with careful handling from vineyard to bottle preserving the white stone fruit, citrus, grapefruit and floral hints that characterise the wine. French oak adds subtle spice and complexity, seamlessly integrated to complement rather than overwhelm the pure fruit character, whilst the fine acidity that supports the expansive finish is a natural result of the cool-climate growing conditions — a Chardonnay of exceptional harmony, intensity and enduring Tasmanian distinction.

Vintage Conditions

Bream Creek Vineyard produces premium wines from Tasmania’s pristine cool climate and has been rewarded with over 20 trophies and more than 470 show medals since 1990 — testament to the exceptional quality of the fruit grown at Marion Bay. The 7.5-hectare vineyard, originally planted in 1974, is one of the oldest commercial vineyards on the island, with this long history providing deep understanding of the site’s unique terroir and optimal viticultural practices. Fred Peacock purchased the vineyard in 1990 and expanded the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay plantings, introduced Sauvignon Blanc, and planted what was arguably the first commercial planting of the rare German grape Schönburger in the southern hemisphere. The 2025 vintage shows exceptional concentration — enjoy now or cellar to 2035.
