Bleasdale's 'The Wild Fig' Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre 2018 vintage won the coveted Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy (Best Young Red) in the recent 2019 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards. Available now is the 2019 SGM and is a great follow up from 2018.

Bleasdale's 'The Wild Fig' SGM is a medium weight red wine with lifted blueberry fruit and cherry cola notes, wild thyme, savoury & earthy characters. Depth and personality from the Shiraz with notes of rain on hot gravel, clove and citrus. Rich fruit flavour with a fine chalky finish. Perfect when watching a summer thunderstorm.

Winery & Vintage Info

Bleasdale continues to showcase the ability of Langhorne Creek to produce quality individualistic wines just like the Bleasdale 'The Wild Fig' Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre 2019 which is the follow up to their 2018 vintage Jimmy Watson Trophy winner. The winery select fruit from sandy and stony vineyards to enhance aromatics typical of these soil types. Shiraz and Grenache were originally grown in Langhorne Creek for fortified winemaking but are proving to be excellent for table wine. Nurtured from small parcels into a vibrant, delicious drink.

Shiraz and Grenache de-stemmed together to open fermenters for pre-ferment maceration. Pump overs up to 4 times daily. Drained & pressed after 10 days on skins, settled for 24 hours before racking to tank and oak for maturation. Further blending with other select parcels before bottling. Shiraz (66%), Grenache (30%) and Mourvèdre (4%). Drinking well now until 2024. Winery Notes
