1800 Tequila Añejo commemorates the year 1800 — the first time tequila was aged in oak barrels, the moment when tequila broke with convention and did something differently to get the liquid to a smoother, more characterful place. A place good enough to savour, too good to slam. Aged in mostly French oak with a small portion in American oak for up to three years, 1800 Añejo is dark amber with copper highlights, with aromas of toasted oak, vanilla, cinnamon, and cloves, layers of butterscotch and chocolate, and a rich, elegant palate of agave and spices with a spicy, long, and well-rounded finish. Widely considered the connoisseur’s super premium tequila and the ultimate in sipping enjoyment — neat or on the rocks.

Appearance

Dark amber with copper highlights — the deep, rich colour of a 100% blue agave tequila aged for up to three years in French and American oak, with the warmth and depth that only genuine long-term barrel ageing can deliver.

Aroma

Toasted oak, vanilla, cinnamon, and cloves lead a complex and inviting bouquet, with layers of butterscotch and chocolate adding depth and richness — an elegant marriage of agave and spices that speaks of three years of patient oak ageing.

Palate

Rich and toasted oak — an elegant marriage of agave and spices with a spicy, long, and well-rounded finish that lingers with genuine complexity and satisfaction. The ultimate sipping tequila, from the year that tequila first learned what it could become.

Serving Suggestions

Neat or on the rocks — a tequila aged for up to three years in French oak deserves nothing less. Too good to slam, good enough to savour. Also exceptional in a premium Tequila Old Fashioned or Añejo Negroni.

Production Notes

1800 Añejo is crafted from 100% blue agave, with the Master Distiller selecting only the very best oak woods to comprise the smooth, characteristic taste of the 1800 range. Rested in mostly French oak with a small portion aged in American oak for up to three years — a commitment to long-term ageing that delivers the toasted oak, vanilla, butterscotch, and chocolate complexity that define this expression. The first drops of tequila flowed from copper pot stills in the year 1800 — and every bottle of 1800 Añejo commemorates that moment.

Producer History

The year 1800 was the first time tequila was aged in oak barrels — the moment when tequila broke with convention and discovered what it could become. 1800 Tequila celebrates that date and that spirit of innovation in every bottle, with a range of 100% blue agave tequilas that honour the tradition whilst pushing it forward. To this day, 1800’s Master Distiller selects only the very best oak woods to ensure the smooth, characterful taste that has made 1800 one of the world’s most respected super premium tequila producers.
