Tasting Notes

Appearance

This distinguished Yarra Valley Chardonnay presents a pale gold colour with brilliant clarity, displaying the exceptional quality characteristic of 100% estate-grown Chardonnay from Yering Station’s carefully managed vineyards, showcasing the hallmark characters of the Yarra Valley that have defined this house style since the estate’s first vintage.

Aroma

The nose is fragrant and complex, with nougat, cashew cream, lemon curd and honeysuckle flowers leading to juicy pomelo. Hazelnuts and citrus, nectarines and nashi pears, green apple and slate weave together with wafts of cedar and a quick drift of herbs, creating a bouquet of remarkable precision and depth — a wine where nothing is out of place and everything feels high spec.

Palate

Fine white grapefruit phenolics wrap around a salty lemon acidity, with a beautifully fragrant mix of white flowers, orange blossoms and frangipani. Light hints of bay leaf guide the white stone fruits through the palate with tense, long and bristling fruit presence. The centre is richly complex with a typical Yarra Valley long and lingering finish — persistent, elegant and still very young. Best drinking 2028–2032+.

Pairs With

This exceptional Yarra Valley Chardonnay is a natural companion to pan-seared barramundi, roast chicken with herbs, lobster bisque, creamy pasta, soft-ripened cheeses, or scallops with a lemon butter sauce, making it ideal for elegant dining and special occasions that deserve a wine of genuine cellar-worthy quality.

Critical Acclaim

“This is an example of precise Yarra engineering. Nothing is out of place; everything feels high spec; it’s tense of long and bristling with fruit. It tastes of hazelnuts and citrus, nectarines and nashi pears, green apple and slate. There’s a suggestion of green pineapple without ever really landing on it, and wafts of cedar too, along with a quick drift of herbs. Everything teams nicely. This is still very young but, even so, it’s very good.”
94 Points — Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, January 2026

Vintage Conditions

The 2024 growing season in the Yarra Valley presented both challenge and opportunity. High rainfall and humidity through spring gave way to consistently warm temperatures, creating conditions that saw an earlier than expected start to the season. The result was a very compressed vintage that, in the hands of Yering Station’s experienced viticulture team, produced beautifully balanced wines with concentrated flavours. The season’s warmth accelerated ripening whilst the Yarra Valley’s cool-climate character preserved the natural acidity, fine phenolics and fragrant aromatics that define the estate’s Chardonnay.
