Winemaking Notes

RockBare Shiraz 2023 is sourced from a number of small blocks across the central and western ridge of the Barossa Valley — fruit machine-picked with a selective harvester and crushed into small open fermenters, remaining on skins for 10 days to extract the exceptional colour, tannin and primary fruit concentration that defines this wine. The wine was then matured in a combination of new (20%) and seasoned French oak barriques and hogsheads for 12 months before bottling — a careful and considered approach to oak maturation that adds complexity and structure whilst preserving the fresh, distinctive Barossa Shiraz character of blackberry, plum, baking spices and dark chocolate that makes RockBare one of the Barossa’s most compelling and approachable Shiraz expressions.

Vintage Conditions

Shiraz from the Barossa Valley has long been held in high regard as one of Australia’s premier producing regions — a wine region of extraordinary heritage, depth and international renown, with 19th century origins and a rich history shaped by early European settlers of German and Silesian descent who established the viticultural traditions that continue to define Barossa Shiraz today. RockBare Shiraz 2023 is sourced from two small blocks across the central and western ridge of the Barossa Valley — sites of exceptional terroir and Shiraz character that deliver the deep garnet colour, fragrant blackberry and dark cherry aromatics, and the medium-bodied, plush yet fresh and concentrated palate that defines RockBare Barossa Shiraz at its finest.
