Winemaking Notes

A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, and 5% Petit Verdot from Margaret River — crushed and destemmed before predominantly small-batch fermentation in a combination of static and open fermenters. Fermentation takes 7–8 days at 24–26°C, with the cap managed using aerative pump-overs and regular hand plunging. After fermentation, 20% of the components underwent extended maceration on skins before very gentle pressing. Malolactic fermentation takes place in a combination of tank and barrel. The wine was matured for 14 months in French oak (40% new barriques) before the blend was assembled and bottled. 14% ABV. pH: 3.44.

Vintage Conditions

The 2023 vintage in Margaret River saw a cool, late start to the growing season, followed by a very dry, mild summer. These conditions offered perfect ripening conditions, allowing the fruit to retain wonderful natural acidity — the foundation of a Cabernet Sauvignon of exceptional purity, refinement, and the potential to age gracefully for many years to come.
