Wynns The Siding Cabernet Shiraz Malbec Merlot 2024

Wynns Coonawarra Estate was the first winery to be established in Coonawarra by John Riddoch in 1896. Located on the world-famous strip of terra rossa soil, the estate has built an unrivalled reputation for wines of distinction and longevity from one of Australia's most celebrated cool-climate red wine regions.

The Siding takes its name from the railway siding — a local landmark completed in 1898 that played a defining role in Coonawarra's early settlement, transporting around 600 hogsheads of wine a year to Adelaide. Today it stands as the estate's accessible, approachable expression of the classic Wynns "red-stripe" blend: a tradition established with the first Cabernet Hermitage blend in 1969 and refined across more than five decades.

Winemaking

The 2024 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Malbec and Merlot — a traditional Australian-style red blend from Coonawarra's terra rossa vineyards. Soft fruit and judicious oak create a wine that is well-balanced and approachable on release, with the structure to develop with medium-term cellaring. Winemaker Sue Hodder. 13.7% ABV. Screwcap. Tasting Notes

The nose opens with fresh raspberry and subtle earthy notes — characteristic of Coonawarra's cool-climate terroir. On the palate, concentrated blueberry, liquorice and ground coffee are brightened by vibrant red cherry and boysenberry, flowing through a succulent, seamless finish. A quintessential Wynns composition: generous, regional, and pleasingly complete.
