Whitebox Shiraz is grown on the eastern slopes of the Mt Camel Range in Heathcote — atop some of the most sensational Shiraz-growing terrain in the world, and sanctuary to one of the largest remnant stands of White Box eucalypts from which the vineyard takes its name. The 2021 vintage embodies the distinct qualities of Heathcote’s exceptional growing season — deep purple-red in colour, with powerful scents of red fruit, chocolate, and leather, and a rich, multifaceted palate of plum, blackberry, vanilla, and spice. Long, satisfying, and built to cellar. Serve at 16–18°C, decant for 30–60 minutes, and enjoy now or cellar for 5–8 years.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Deep purple-red with excellent clarity and viscosity — the striking, concentrated colour of a Heathcote Shiraz from one of the region’s most celebrated vineyard sites, reflecting the quality and concentration of the 2021 fruit.

Aroma

Powerful and expressive — red fruit, chocolate, and leather create a bold, complex bouquet that is unmistakably Heathcote Shiraz in character. Inviting, deep, and immediately impressive.

Palate

Rich and multifaceted — plum and blackberry provide depth and intensity, while vanilla and spice from French oak add complexity and structure. Beautiful integration between fruit and oak, with a long, satisfying finish of dark fruit and spice that lingers well beyond the glass.

Pairs With

Whitebox Shiraz is a natural companion for grilled steak, slow-cooked lamb, beef ribs, venison, barbecued meats, rich stews, game, and aged cheddar — a powerful, food-friendly Heathcote Shiraz that rewards the table as much as the glass.
