Veuve Clicquot Rosé NV is the direct descendant of the first blended rosé Champagne ever created — crafted by Madame Clicquot herself in 1818 by adding red wine to Yellow Label Champagne. Coppery-orange in colour, with expressive aromas of strawberry and very ripe wild strawberries, and a full-bodied, structured, vinous palate that stays fresh. The length and character define this Champagne. Made from 50 to 60 different crus, with up to 40% reserve wines and 12% red wine addition — the most historically significant rosé Champagne in the world.

Appearance

Coppery-orange — the distinctive, warm, and immediately recognisable colour of Veuve Clicquot Rosé, achieved through the addition of 12% red wine using red grapes specially selected to give a marvellous balance to this rosé. A colour that has defined the style since Madame Clicquot created it in 1818.

Aroma

Expressive aromas of strawberry and very ripe wild strawberries — the vibrant, fruit-forward bouquet of a full-bodied rosé Champagne assembled from 50 to 60 different crus and enriched by up to 40% reserve wines, some of which are nine years old.

Palate

Full-bodied, structured, and vinous — a palate that stays fresh, with the length and character that define this Champagne. The high percentage of reserve wines providing the consistency, complexity, and depth that Madame Clicquot’s original 1818 vision demanded, and that every subsequent release has honoured.

Pairs With

Fresh salmon, lobster, duck, strawberry desserts, soft cheeses, and charcuterie — or simply as the most elegant and historically significant apéritif available. The full-bodied structure, fresh acidity, and wild strawberry character make Veuve Clicquot Rosé a natural and deeply satisfying partner for the finest food at the table.

Winemaking Notes

Based on Brut Yellow Label’s traditional blend — 44 to 48% Pinot Noir, 13 to 18% Meunier, 25 to 29% Chardonnay — assembled from 50 to 60 different crus. The blend draws on a particularly high percentage of reserve wines from usually five or six harvests: 25 to 35%, sometimes as much as 40%, to ensure the consistency of the House style. The reserve wines, some of which are nine years old, are kept separately depending on the origin of the crus and the years in which the wines were produced. The blend is completed with 12% red wine, using red grapes specially raised and selected to give a marvellous balance to this rosé — the same method Madame Clicquot pioneered in 1818.

Producer History

Veuve Clicquot was founded in Reims in 1772 and quickly established its reputation on the outstanding quality of its Champagne. Under the dynamic leadership of Madame Clicquot — who took control of the House at the age of 27 following the death of her husband — an outstanding international Champagne flourished, reinventing the manner in which Champagne was produced along the way. Madame Clicquot invented the riddling table, pioneered the first vintage-dated Champagne, and in 1818 created the first blended rosé Champagne by adding red wine to Yellow Label — a technique that remains the foundation of Veuve Clicquot Rosé to this day. Over 200 years later, the House she built remains one of the world’s most celebrated and recognisable Champagne producers. The Rosé is her most personal legacy.
