Uchu Umeshu is an aged Japanese plum liqueur of depth, detail, and quiet intensity — crafted in Oita from premium Oushukubai ume and matured for a minimum of three years before release. The extended ageing lends a deep amber hue with shimmering copper highlights, and a layered profile that moves from herbal and lifted on the nose through to rich, viscous, and warming on the palate. Aromas of Portello, spearmint, and herbal lozenge evolve into soft stone fruit and spiced red berries as the liqueur opens in the glass; plum, peach, and wild berries on the palate meet nougat, vanilla, and a touch of tonka bean, with generous sweetness and warming alcohol balanced by faint astringency. Serve chilled over ice, lengthened with soda, or enhanced with a few drops of Japanese whisky.

Appearance

Deep amber with shimmering copper highlights — the rich, concentrated colour of an umeshu aged for a minimum of three years from premium Oushukubai ume grown in Oita.

Aroma

Herbal and lifted — Portello, spearmint, and plum with hints of lozenge and peach skin. Aromas that evolve and open with air, revealing soft stone fruit and spiced red berries beneath the initial medicinal lift.

Palate

Rich and viscous — red berries, ripe plum and peach, layered with vanilla, nougat, and tonka bean. Generous sweetness and warming alcohol balanced by faint astringency. A lot to take in, and all of it rewarding.

Pairs With

Serve chilled over ice, lengthened with soda as a long drink, or enhanced with a few drops of Japanese whisky. A natural companion to soft cheeses, dark chocolate, stone fruit desserts, and Japanese cuisine. Refrigerate after opening.
