American oak imparts delicate vanilla, citrus, and butterscotch; European oak delivers the unmistakable subtle spice that is the hallmark of The Macallan. Together, they create a single malt of exceptional depth, smoothness, and warmth. Golden butterscotch — the rich, warm, entirely natural colour of a single malt matured in sherry seasoned oak for 15 years.
Aroma
Dried fruit, toffee, and vanilla lead a generous and inviting nose, with smooth oak and baked apple adding depth and balance, complemented by notes of honey and chocolate.
Palate
Sweet raisin and sultana build with hints of vanilla, wood spice, and citrus — cinnamon and nutmeg weave through alongside creamy vanilla in a palate of genuine richness and complexity. The finish is warm and lingering, with ginger turning to caramel and citrus, and a creamy, satisfying mouthfeel that speaks of 15 years of careful maturation.
