The GlenDronach Grandeur 28 Year Old Batch 11 single malt scotch whisky is a ruby tinged walnut. Opulent and powerful aromas with a symphony of sherry, interwoven with dark manuka honey, roasted almond and walnut. Baked plum and ginger captivate the senses, deepening to rustic vintage leather and freshly ground coffee. Intense and full-bodied with dark fruit notes on a base of velvet and fine leather. A crescendo of black cherry and espresso adorns each mouthful. Richly rewarding, with a persistent chocolate, liquorice and walnut finish.

Distillery Info

The GlenDronach Distillery is nestled in the valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highland hills near Aberdeenshire, is named after the source of it's water - the Dronac burn.

The distillery was founded in 1826, The GlenDronach was one of the very first licensed distilleries and has a history of enterprising owners, from the flamboyant James Allardice to the ambitious Walter Scott. Allardice was a colourful character and stories abound as to how he promoted his whisky with entrepreneurial flair. He was a pioneer of sherry cask maturation and would have celebrated today’s superb The GlenDronach, maturing their whisky in the finest Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks.

A small number of Oloroso sherry casks which demonstrate exceptional character have been chosen by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie for the eleventh batch of The GlenDronach Grandeur.

This expression is an exquisite representation of the rich, complex and full-bodied style of The GlenDronach Distillery. All of its natural colour has been drawn from the casks in which it has rested for almost three decades. Each bottle is individually numbered by hand as a reflection of its rarity.
