Tar & Roses Pinot Grigio 2026 is Narelle King’s take on the variety — a grigio with more attitude than most. Sourced from four Victorian vineyards spanning cool-climate King Valley and Sutton Grange through to the warmer Nagambie and Mitchelton sites, it is a wine of genuine textural interest and bright, fresh fruit character. The blend is deliberate: cooler sites bring the classic pear and stone fruit precision, warmer sites add tropical richness and body. The result is a Pinot Grigio that sits closer to the gris end of the spectrum — more weight, more texture, more to say.

Appearance

Pale white peach with brilliant clarity and a clean, inviting colour that hints at the freshness to come.

Nose

Alluringly fragrant — nashi pear, crisp apple and white stone fruit lead, with mandarin, honeysuckle and a hint of honeydew melon. Lightly spiced and immediately inviting, with a lift that draws you in before the first sip.

Palate

Rich and viscous with a smooth, almost creamy texture that carries nashi pear, white peach, mandarin and tropical fruit through to a clean, refreshing finish. Bright natural acidity keeps the palate lively and prevents the richness from becoming heavy. Spiced stewed apple and savoury citrus add complexity in the mid-palate, while the finish is clean and bright with lingering pear and stone fruit. A Pinot Grigio that earns its place at the table rather than simply filling a glass.

Winemaking

Fruit sourced from King Valley, Sutton Grange, Stratford Vineyard (north of Nagambie) and Mitchelton. Machine harvested, pressed under SO₂ protection and cold fermented at 10–15°C to preserve aromatics and natural acidity. Pressings and free run fermented separately where possible, then blended prior to stabilisation and bottling. 13.5% alc. • 750ml. Serve at 8–10°C.

Cellaring
