Quantity

Named after the historic St Andrews property first established in 1892, this is Clare Valley Chardonnay at its most refined — elegant and generous in equal measure, with white peach, nectarine and lime lifted by creamy French oak and a long, silky finish. The warm 2024 vintage was exceptional, delivering fruit of outstanding ripeness and purity that makes this one of the finest St Andrews Chardonnays in recent memory.

Appearance

Light pale straw with a faint green hue and brilliant clarity.

Nose

Aromas of nectarine, white peach and pear with hints of lime, melon and subtle tropical notes. French oak adds layers of savoury biscuit and crème brûlée. A touch of honeydew and toast lingers on the finish.

Palate

Juicy white peach, lime and subtle sherbet-like citrus wrapped in creamy French oak. Fresh, vibrant fruit framed by crunchy acidity with a silky, graceful finish. The warm 2024 vintage delivered a wine of both elegance and power with a long, lingering close.

Winemaking

The 2024 St Andrews Chardonnay was fermented directly in barrel before being transferred to fine-grained Burgundian oak barriques for nine months of maturation. The barrel selection comprises approximately 50% new oak, 25% one-year-old, and 25% three to five-year-old barrels — a combination chosen to build texture and complexity while preserving the purity and freshness of the Clare Valley fruit. The result is a wine where oak is a supporting element rather than a dominant one, allowing the white peach, nectarine and citrus character to remain at the centre of the wine. Alcohol 13.0% • pH 3.30 • Acidity 6.50g/L • Residual Sugar 1.1g/L. Screwcap.

Vintage Conditions

The 2024 Clare Valley vintage was one of the most consistent in recent years. The season progressed smoothly from budburst through to harvest, with ideal ripening weather and minimal rainfall at critical periods. Early harvest dates reflected the season's warmth, which allowed fruit to reach outstanding ripeness and concentration while retaining the natural acidity and purity that define Clare Valley Chardonnay. The 2024 vintage delivered beautifully balanced wines across the board — rich and vibrant, with impressive varietal expression and the structure to reward cellaring.

Cellaring

Crafted for immediate enjoyment but should cellar well to 2034. Serve at 10–12°C in a wide, open-mouthed glass to enhance richness and balance oak and fruit.
