Onannon Tudibaring Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023 is a precise, finely structured Pinot Noir from the elevated, wind-exposed slopes of Main Ridge on the Mornington Peninsula — one of the most distinctive and demanding sites on the Peninsula, where Pommard and MV6 clones deliver red cherry, dried herb, and subtle earth, framed by taut acidity and fine tannins. Elegant, site-transparent, and built to evolve.

Appearance

Clear, bright ruby — the refined, luminous colour of a Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir of genuine precision and site character from the elevated slopes of Main Ridge.

Aroma

Red cherry and dried herb lead a precise and expressive bouquet, with subtle earth adding depth and a sense of place — the characteristic aromatic profile of Pommard and MV6 clones grown on wind-exposed, elevated Main Ridge slopes.

Palate

Finely structured and elegant — red cherry, dried herb, and subtle earth are framed by taut acidity and fine tannins that give the wine genuine drive and length. Site-transparent and built to evolve — a Pinot Noir that will reward patience as much as it rewards an early opening.

Pairs With

Roasted quail, duck breast, wild mushroom dishes, salmon, and aged soft-rind cheeses. A Pinot Noir of this precision and structure belongs at a table that appreciates wines of genuine site character and winemaking restraint.

Winemaking Notes

Sourced from the Tudibaring Vineyard at Main Ridge — elevated, wind-exposed slopes that produce Pinot Noir of exceptional precision and site transparency. Pommard and MV6 clones are the foundation of this wine’s character, delivering the red cherry, dried herb, and subtle earth that define the Tudibaring site. Finely structured, with taut acidity and fine tannins built for medium to long-term cellaring.

Producer History

Onannon is three people with one goal. The name is taken from the last letters of three surnames — Sam Middleton, Kaspar Hermann, and Will Byron — a friendship forged in winemaking studies and cemented in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with each serving stints at Coldstream Hills in the Yarra Valley in the noughties. Sam and Kaspar remain in the Yarra, making wine at Mount Mary, while Will works on the Mornington Peninsula — and together, under the Onannon label, their goal is to craft wines that speak a little of themselves and a lot of their place. Since starting out in 2008, their focus has been Pinot Noir from Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula, with a first Gippsland Chardonnay added in 2012. This tight band of brothers has garnered a devoted following with bright, expressive wines made in minuscule quantities.
