Oakridge Original Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (Yarra Valley)

"It’s a strong cabernet showing amplified fruit characters but not weight. Floods the palate in a wash of inky cassis, sage leaf, pepper, dark-bitter-fancy chocolate and light espresso characters with a woody-ashy finish. There’s this diffuse feel to the wine, like you can taste through it, missing poise of Yarra’s higher pedigree perhaps, but still plenty to talk about. Push on. Tannins work like a web, broad, powdery, and there’s this really nice minerally-flinty thing in the wine too. There’s lovely scents of dark berries and chocolate, a touch of smoke, pleasing green herbs in the mix. The drink is good in many other ways."
