Giant Steps Pinot Noir 2025 is a superb, brightly fruited, and juicy Yarra Valley Pinot Noir — opulent crimson purple in the glass, exploding from the glass with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberry coulis, lavender, and spice. Balanced acidity and tannins completing a Pinot of genuine elegance and accessibility, equally rewarding now and over the next three to four years. 96 points, Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion, March 2026. As good a Giant Steps entry point as Philip Rich has tasted.
Tasting Notes
Appearance
Opulent crimson purple — the rich, vibrant colour of a brightly fruited Yarra Valley Pinot Noir from Giant Steps, with the depth and clarity that hand sorting, 32% whole bunches, and eight months in French oak barriques deliver.
Aroma
Explodes from the glass with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberry coulis, lavender, and spice — the brightly fruited, juicy, and characterfully Yarra bouquet of a Giant Steps Pinot Noir crafted with 32% whole bunches and the meticulous gravity-based winemaking that defines the Giant Steps approach.
Palate
Brightly fruited and juicy — ripe cherries, raspberry coulis, lavender, and spice, with balanced acidity and tannins completing a palate of genuine elegance and accessibility. Equally rewarding now and over the next three to four years.
Pairs With
A natural companion for roasted duck, salmon, mushroom risotto, charcuterie, soft to medium-aged cheeses, and any occasion that calls for a brightly fruited, juicy, and elegantly structured Yarra Valley Pinot Noir — Giant Steps Pinot Noir 2025 is the Yarra at its most welcoming and rewarding.
Finish
Fresh, juicy, and deeply satisfying — ripe cherry, raspberry, lavender, and spice fading with balanced acidity and fine tannins, leaving a clean, vibrant close of genuine Yarra Valley Pinot Noir distinction. Drink now and over the next three to four years.
Reviews
“An opulent crimson purple. Explodes from the glass with its aromas of ripe cherries, raspberry coulis, lavender and spice. It’s just so brightly fruited and juicy on the palate, too. Balanced acidity and tannins complete a superb and well-priced Yarra pinot to drink now and over the next three to four years. As good a Giant Steps entry point as I have tasted.”

Winemaking Notes
100% hand picked and fastidiously hand sorted in the vineyard. Pinot Noir parcels processed via one of two pathways — either fermented semi-carbonic with 100% whole bunch, or destemmed and fermented with whole berries — with the direction determined by clone, vineyard, stem ripeness, and flavour. Whole bunch batches fermented warm with minimal mixing for 14 days; destemmed whole berry parcels cold soaked for 3 days before natural fermentation. All cap management by gravity drain and returns for gentle extraction before pressing. Each parcel transferred by gravity to French oak barriques (16% new, 84% seasoned) for malolactic fermentation and lees maturation. In 2025, 32% whole bunches. Matured for eight months before blending in Spring and bottling in November 2025 by gravity, without fining or filtration. Vegan friendly. 13.5% ABV. Screwcap.
Vintage Conditions
The 2025 Yarra Valley season opened with a generous, wet winter that filled the soil profile with moisture — followed by a warm, dry spring with fantastic conditions during flowering and fruit set. The dry season pushed growth and ripening along even as temperatures remained barely warmer than average, a pleasant surprise. Harvest came earlier than usual and moved quickly — a compressed vintage that asked a great deal of the Giant Steps team and rewarded the effort with fruit of exceptional quality, concentration, and weight. 50% of fruit sourced from the upper Yarra ranges.
