Delord Bas-Armagnac 1976 is a rare and extraordinary piece of French spirits heritage — clear amber with beautiful gold reflections, and fifty years of patient ageing in one of more than 700 oak barrels at the Delord family distillery in Lannepax. Crafted from Colombard, Ugni Blanc, and Folle Blanche, distilled through the family’s treasured old Sier Armagnac alambics at less than 30 litres per hour, and aged with the extraordinary patience that has made Delord’s vintage Armagnac range one of the most complete in existence. Vanilla, oakwood, marzipan, and dried fruits on the nose; cinnamon, marzipan, and toasted bread on the palate; rounded, soft, and elegantly easy to drink, with a long, warming finish that speaks eloquently of five decades of careful oak maturation. The perfect gift for those born in 1976. And a treasured addition to any serious spirits collection.

Production Notes

Produced at the family distillery in Lannepax, Bas-Armagnac, from Colombard, Ugni Blanc, and Folle Blanche grape varieties. Distillation takes place from the beginning of November through to the end of December, using the family’s treasured old Sier Armagnac alambics that produce less than 30 litres of eau-de-vie per hour — a slow, traditional process central to the exceptional quality and complexity of Delord’s Armagnac. The eau-de-vie is then aged in one of more than 700 oak barrels in Delord’s cellars, protecting and ageing Armagnac from the 20th century to the present day. Delord’s vintage range is one of the most complete in existence — vintages from 1900 to 2006, with only 33 years unavailable. Bottles indicate a bottling date, as it is only age in wood that truly matters.

Distillery Heritage

The Delord family distillery in Lannepax is one of Bas-Armagnac’s most celebrated and visionary producers — with an extraordinary vision for storing exceptional Armagnacs for extended periods that has resulted in one of the most complete vintage ranges in existence. Bas-Armagnac, situated in the Gascony region of south-west France, is the most prestigious of the three Armagnac appellations, renowned for producing eau-de-vie of exceptional finesse, complexity, and aromatic depth from the region’s sandy sables fauves soils. The 1976 vintage has had five decades to develop its remarkable complexity — a living testament to the patience, expertise, and heritage of the Delord family and the unique terroir of Bas-Armagnac. Fifty years in the making. Worth every one of them.
