Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep purple with a bright red edge — vibrant and youthful in the glass.
Nose: Dark fruits — blackberry, plum and dark cherry — with a lift of spice and brightness. Well-integrated chocolate oak adds complexity without dominating the primary fruit.
Palate: Full-bodied and generous with concentrated dark fruit weight and depth of flavour. The spice and oak integration carry through seamlessly, with good structure and balance across the mid-palate.
Finish: Long and satisfying, with silky fine tannins that carry the fruit cleanly to a smooth, dry conclusion.
Blend & Winemaking
Fruit was selected from Heathcote vineyards for optimal weight and ripeness, then harvested in the cool of the morning to preserve freshness and aromatic integrity. The 2024 growing season delivered lower-than-average rainfall in Heathcote, resulting in lower yields and strong concentration of flavour. Fruit was carefully destemmed and fermented at 25–30°C over 7–8 days before being pressed and racked. The wine was then matured for 12 months in a selection of new and older hogshead barrels, building complexity and allowing the oak to integrate with the generous dark fruit palate.
