Collection: Yealands | Marlborough

Yealands was founded on 08.08.08 on a stretch of coastal land on the north-eastern tip of New Zealand’s South Island that most considered too wild and windswept for viticulture. Founder Peter Yealands thought otherwise. Seaview Vineyard — now the single largest privately owned vineyard in New Zealand — was carved from rugged pastoral land by working with the natural contours of the folded landscape, creating a mosaic of micro-climates that give the wines genuine variety and character.

From the beginning, sustainability was the operating principle, not an afterthought. Yealands opened as the first winery in the world to be Toitū carbonzero certified from inception. Solar panels, vine pruning biomass, wetland development and cover crops between the vine rows are part of how the estate works — the goal being to leave the land better than it was found.

The Yealands range covers Marlborough’s signature varieties — Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Albaríño, Rosé, Merlot and Pinot Noir — all sourced and produced from Marlborough fruit. Peter Yealands retired in 2018 and passed away in 2024. His motto — “Think Boldly, Tread Lightly, and Never Say it Can’t be Done” — remains the guiding principle of the winery today.
