Grant Burge Wines is one of the Barossa Valley's most celebrated producers — a brand born from five generations of devoted vignerons and an unrivalled connection to the land. The Burge family planted their roots in the Barossa in the 1800s, and it was Meshach Burge who, in 1865, installed fermenting tanks to make wines he could share with friends and family. Out of that generosity came what is today the Grant Burge brand, formally established in 1988.

Under Senior Winemaker Craig Stansborough — with the winery since 1993 — Grant Burge sources fruit from seventeen named vineyards across the Barossa and Eden Valleys, each contributing distinct character shaped by its elevation, soil type and microclimate. The range spans the full spectrum of what both valleys can produce: generous, full-bodied Barossa reds from the valley floor's rich alluvial soils, and the cool-climate precision of Eden Valley Riesling and Shiraz from rocky grey schist at 500 metres.

The Barossa & Eden Valleys

The Barossa Valley floor at 200–250 metres is defined by rich, red-brown alluvial soils and a Mediterranean climate — cold, wet winters building moisture reserves, warm dry summers allowing slow, even ripening that produces the full, generous varietal flavours for which the district is renowned. The Eden Valley, at 500 metres, offers a cooler, more austere environment: rocky, acidic grey schist soils and a shorter growing season that produces wines of natural acidity, finesse and exceptional ageing potential.
