Collection: Coldstream Hills | Yarra Valley

Coldstream Hills was founded in 1985 by James Halliday — then Australia’s most influential wine critic — on the belief that the Yarra Valley could produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to rival the finest cool-climate wines in the world. The estate he established on the slopes above Coldstream became one of the most important in the region’s history, and the wines he made there helped define what Yarra Valley winemaking could be.

Today Coldstream Hills is part of Treasury Wine Estates, but the commitment to the Yarra Valley and its cool-climate varieties remains unchanged. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the heart of the range, from the approachable and consistently excellent entry tier through to the single-vineyard Amphitheatre expressions. Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon round out a portfolio that draws on some of the valley’s best sites.

The sparkling wine program, running since 1995, has produced some of the most decorated Australian sparkling wines of recent years — including the 2018 Pinot Noir Chardonnay, which spent six years on lees and won trophies at both the National Wine Show and the Yarra Valley Wine Show.
