The 2021 Zonzo Estate Scoperta Sagrantino from vineyards in Heathcote has beautiful rich, savoury and dark fruit aromas. Cherries and chocolate create a heady perfume, it is fresh and intense. Tannins are fine and powdery and evenly cover the palate which has a lovely balance between richness and the freshness of sour cherries and darker berry fruits.

"A deep-ish cherry red. Black cherries, dried herbs, citrus zest and a touch of violets make for an appealing and perfumed bouquet. Ripe but balanced on the palate, the wine's juicy acidity and fine, gently chewy tannins will have you coming back for another sip!"

Made in smaller batches using Italian varieties atypical of YV, this newest range was started as a way to find varieties more sustainable for our changing YV climate while also creating some truly unique wines.

Best paired to open minds and any cuisine, Scoperta is a conversation starter. A great choice for those looking for something different.

Harvested on the 18th March 2021, machine picked. Tipped to open fermenter and chilled for 2 days before inoculating. Gentle handling with a combination of hand plunges and run downs accompanied by cap work, then returns. Stayed on skins for 16 days.

Sagrantino is an Italian grape variety that is indigenous to the region of Umbria in Central Italy.
