Yering Station Village Chardonnay 2025 is a classic expression of the Yarra Valley at its most generous and vibrant — part of the Village family of wines that lets the bright, fruit-forward character of the region speak for itself. Soft and juicy peach upfront builds with generous texture and barrel ferment complexity, delivering a Chardonnay that is both immediately appealing and genuinely well-structured. Awarded 93 points by Philip Rich in the Halliday Wine Companion and 91 points by Jeni Port at Wine Pilot.

Appearance

Pale white gold with a bright, luminous clarity — fresh and inviting in the glass.

Aroma

White peaches, lemon balm, and crushed cashews lead a fragrant and expressive bouquet. Stone fruits, yellow apple, and a touch of lemon oil add further depth, with light spice and flint adding complexity and lift.

Palate

Mouthfilling flavours of yellow citrus, nectarine pith, and white florals open a palate of beautiful generosity and texture. Subtle savoury notes of roasted nuts and baking spices layer across the mid-palate, complemented by an attractive creaminess that is signature Village. Delicate tannin and taut acidity provide a backbone that keeps the frame centred and vibrant through a long, zesty finish.

Pairs With

Grilled barramundi, roast chicken, creamy pasta, soft-rind cheeses, and light seafood dishes. A versatile Chardonnay that complements a wide range of food without ever overpowering it.

Reviews

93 Points — Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
91 Points — Jeni Port, Wine Pilot

“Yering Station consistently delivers the goods at this price point, and this is no exception. Brightly coloured with aromas of stone fruits, yellow apple and just a touch of lemon oil. It’s textured through the mid-palate before finishing gently pithy and long. Tick.”
— Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

“Shows its sunny side early with aromas of yellow peach, nectarine, citrus, flint and light spice. An attractive creaminess across the middle palate is signature Village in league with citrus, ripe stone fruits and a lively spiciness. Nicely integrated with oak, the overall effect is one of a streamlined, bright Chardonnay. Finishes on a zesty high note.”
— Jeni Port, Wine Pilot

Winemaking Notes

The Village Chardonnay is crafted to showcase the natural generosity and vibrancy of Yarra Valley fruit, with barrel ferment complexity adding texture and depth without obscuring the wine’s bright, fruit-forward character. The result is a Chardonnay that is streamlined and elegant — oak nicely integrated, acidity taut and lively, and the overall effect one of a wine that is greater than the sum of its parts. Alcohol: 13% | pH: 3.33.

Vintage Conditions

The 2025 Yarra Valley vintage was defined by ideal spring conditions that led to excellent fruit set and beautifully balanced canopies across the region. A warm summer, tempered by cool nights, nurtured healthy crops rich in flavour and vibrant in character, with beautifully ripe tannins developing across all varieties. Harvest was swift and intense — perfectly ripened Chardonnay picked throughout February, followed by Shiraz, Cabernet, and other varieties in March. The season delivered exactly the conditions that the Yarra Valley does best: warmth for ripeness, cool nights for acidity, and the long, measured growing season that produces wines of genuine elegance and depth.
